The Company has a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) contract with Karachi Port Trust (KPT) for the
construction, development, operations and management of a common user container terminal at
Karachi Port for a period of twenty-one years commencing June 18, 2002. After the expiry date, the
Company will transfer all the concession assets to KPT.
I hate waking up.

§  According to newspaper reports, Govt. of Pakistan expects 2016 to be the take-off year for China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar port. Cargo handling is expected to increase by 100% this year.

no one in their senses will use gawadar port for incoming freight for cpec projects in sindh/punjab/kpk
gawadar maybe used for projects in baluchistan ..

Yeah, it will take a couple years before Gwadar is a port of choice. Till then, Karachi and Bin Qasim will continue to be the main ports.

without a cheap railway connection, gawadar is a useless port for rest of the country

Railways are very important but 90% of goods movement inside Pakistan is by trucks so they will definitely push for Gwadar to start getting more container traffic even without a railway connection. Railway tracks have been added to CPEC but will take a few years to lay and update.

Shipping Lines Riled by Pakistan’s Move to Raise Port Tariffs

Shipping companies are threatening to scrap their Pakistan services after the South Asian country increased tariffs at its largest port in a blow to an industry that is already grappling with global overcapacity and low freight rates.
Hyundai Merchant Marine Co. is “seriously considering” dropping deployment of larger vessels in Pakistan, the South Korean company wrote in a letter to the Karachi Port Trust
