Gillette pakistan nice comeback by turning losses into profits in 2012. Losses were mainly caused by increase in prices of supplies internationally and pak rupee devaluation against Euro in 2nd half of 2010-11. But management kept its focus on increasing topline gowth by launch of different products in both "blade and razor" and "braun" segment and making those a success story through holistic campaign through media, in-market activities and other means. On the other side management also continued its negotiations with international supplier for reduction in prices of certain products and with GOP for abolishing regulatory duty on personal care products. Company succeeded on both ends in 2010-11 and topline grew by healthy % in years ending 2011 and 2012.

Management also very focused on curtailing its selling distribution and admin costs and with increase in sales these costs are at reasonable % of sales although company increased its advertising and promotion expense heavly.

Company is importing finished products and marketing and selling those in the local market.

Its share price moved from Rs 60 to Rs 120 in Oct 12 after result announcement of EPS of Rs 3.80 for Qtr Sep 12. Now price making new highs of Rs 132 recently although there was good entry chance for value investors in the recent market correction from 17000 to 16000 when GLPL touched low of Rs 93.

I also missed it .. but for now onward on my watchlist.

The Gillette Mach3 is a line of safety razors produced by Gillette and introduced in 1998 after more than $750 million in research and development costs. The three blade design is marketed by Gillette as allowing for a shave with less pressure to the skin and with fewer strokes, thereby reducing skin irritation. While many customers do experience greater comfort with the three-bladed models, some individuals, depending upon skin and beard type, have experienced increased irritation or razor burn as the number of blades has increased.

The Mach3 is more expensive than many other razors. The Gillette Fusion with 5 blades is more expensive still, continuing the Razor and blades business model, or a "loss leader" model, adopted by Gillette in the early 20th century. Since the increased price of the newer cartridges creates slower consumer adoption of each new model, Gillette has heavily discounted the newer models through newspaper and in-store coupons and in many cases mailed free copies to individuals on purchased mailing lists. While this practice has accelerated adoption of both, Gillette still has a strong customer base using their two-bladed razors as evidenced by their wide availability and high sales volume. The blades used by Mach3 only cost around 9 cents to produce, but can sell for over $2 each. This shows that profit margins on Gillette razor blades are high.

Other razors in the Mach3 series are the Mach3Turbo and the M3Power. All Mach3 series razor blades are interchangeable between the three. The Venus series of razors marketed to women are based on their Mach3 counterparts. The Venus is based on the Mach3, the Venus Divine based on the Mach3Turbo and the Venus Vibrance is based on the M3Power. The Venus models feature different grip shapes and lengths than their Mach3 counterparts design to assist with the differing angle and reach needs of women shavers.

where can I get its previous 6 years stock price high lows ? anybody? not mentioned in its annual reports. There seems to be great potential in this stock as currently trading at very low price earning multiples.

Strange are we all. We see potential in a scrip at 180 and not at 80  :(

mairi nazar mian tu aaya hi ab hay ... but i think it is a kind of "predictable-growth-at-a-reasonable-price" story, so still seems to be cheap.

6 year high is at 144.5 on 29th jan 2009, while lowest is at 34.64 on 27th jan 2012. I have heard that Gillete Treasury was Buying Back for Treasury Stock thats why such high movement. You may notice series of Upper Locks in a row. I dont know whether Buying back is over or not. I made quite a good money from 50 to 80. Than i decided to exit. The price remains volatile and with Low volumes its difficult to discover true price. We should not be expecting much earnings stability
Above mentioned comment is not a Buy/Sell recommendation. Do your own due diligence before Investing.

@sAr thx for sharing your views.

With full year expected EPS around Rs 13 it is currently trading at only PE x of 10 which is very low in FMCG sector and for an international brand like Gillette. Going forward, in the long run i see good growth in its top-line and bottom-line due to different initiatives which the company has taken.

If CGS increases due to price increase of raw materials internationally, P&G USA might consider any proposal forwarded for further rate cuts as P&G's cost of production is very low, to keep its presence in Pakistani market. Pakistani consumer market has become very attractive for Multinational consumer product companies due to different factors.
