A general guide to building portfolios for beginners

1. Make a list of sectors to invest inn like oil and gas, omc, fertilizers, cements, textiles, power, telecoms, fmcg and banks etc

2. Select top picks from each sector

3. Allocate %ages to sectors depending upon expected future performances

4. Allocate %ages to top picks accordingly

5. choose atleast 3 sectors and minimum of 5 scrips to invest in

6. Avoid kacra items or keep them less than 5% of your portfolio

Hope it helps

How far back has this been tested. What's the time period? (And does the time period start from buy signal and end at sell signal?)

Thanks

Dear all

We are initiating a Trading portfolio for the Website. The idea is to beat the market returns. Some simple rules are under.

1. We would buy the stock once the buy call is initiated on next day open price.
2. Sell would be made on the next day's close. [profit & Loss  booking]
3. Stop loss would be given priority.
4. Only Team/admin would initiate the buy/sell calls.
5. In case you want to be the part of this portfolio team. All you need to do is prove you are worth it by placing your buy/sell calls in individual topics. We would monitor those and would be invited to join.

Regards !

We need to make it in tabular form with price @ buy call and price @ sell call
and % profit or loss booked

i would suggest to come up with a porfolio of about 100,000
with a combination of defensive and speculative stocks
and shares held in them
